Pledge To No Man

I had a dream last night
More like a nightmare's fright
That I was hauled away
For protesting what the masses say

That "God is America"
They said that "God is America"
Well God is not America
God is not an idea
God is not a flag of pentagrams
He holds the wicked and righteous in His hand
He blesses and lays waste all the lands
For God is not America

The land that soldiers fought and died
Is not the same as the Pilgrim's pride
So they led me away
'Cause I denied what they all say

That "God is America"
They said that "God is America"
Well God is not America
God is not an idea
God is not a flag of pentagrams
He holds the wicked and righteous in His hand
He blesses and lays waste all the lands
For God is not America

Call me unpatriotic
Call my words idiotic
Say that He shed His grace on thee
But He did that on Calvary
Spin the truth to either lie
Make me a target of the FBI
Manufacture opposing sides
Wash away those martyrs with the tides
Call this the New Jerusalem
Not too far from the old Salem
As you raise your fists in hypocricy
And then call it "Christianity"
So spin it Rupert, spin it Ted
Spinnin' 'round 'til we're all dead
Spinnin' 'round 'til we're all fed
All the lies that the masses said

That "God is America"
They said that "God is America"
Well God is not America
God is not an idea
God is not a flag of pentagrams
He holds the wicked and righteous in His hand
He blesses and lays waste all the lands
For God is not America
God is not America
God is not America
